From the results of the AGM - it looks very much like the WRA has now morphed into "PC Light" - I won't say Stelmachian Light - but it looks that way to me !

So unless something happens before the election to convince me otherwise, I will probably stay home on that day !

Sighhhhhhh

:computer:

Ouch !

I hope you are wrong. The PC's are just a tad long in the tooth, they need to go, vote Green Party or something....just vote one way or another.

OR don't vote!

Though I really only encourage that on a federal level because there it is clear there is no party like the Bloc to represent us and that system only functions well for those with such parties. Not voting is really the only honest vote.

Not voting is also the only real protest vote that is acknowledged or even reported widely. Of course people try to twist those "votes" to mean other things but try as they may not voting is still clearly seen as a protest vote. Given enough (I would think we are already there) not votes undermines the legitimacy of the elected party and the system itself.

Speak loudly, Don't vote!

But on a provincial and lower levels there are more options and those options will listen as our few votes are much more powerful, you, we, can have a say at those levels and be heard. If anything vote local, who is running for the city positions? Or find out who is running for a school board and just focus on making a good choice there.

Don't just vote "because". All that does is encourage a continued decline in quality and add legitimacy to people and a system that may not deserve it.

There's some folks who post on here (or, did post here) who did work for a while to create a federal party like the BQ for Alberta, a few years ago.

Despite their best efforts, it never really got off the ground -- in equal parts because of apathy (Alberta's got about the lowest participation in federal contests, next to Newfoundland) and because of strong loyalty to the Conservative Party's brand amongst many who are active. Can't blame those folks, though. Just the way things are.

We can blame them now as the CP has shown themselves to be more than ready to toss the west under the bus if it means eastern votes. Of course that was to be expected as the current system gives the East the power but at least now it should be clear to all in the West that voting Conservative is voting for status quo.

So where is this Alberta party? Ideally it should be a Western Party so it can get seats from Sask and BC, maybe even MB. Something like the Hudson Bay to Pacific party or the HUDPAC party, LOL, too late in the day to play with names. L8TR. jb
